Day Four- Waaay Up to the Castle

We decided that Sunday morning would be a great time to climb up to Edinburgh Castle, given that most Edinburgians will still in bed sleeping off last night's party. The was relatively quiet and we managed to get around without too many others tourists getting in the way. We had a lovely cuppa tea at the top before journeying down to the bottom of the hill to go to The Edinburgh Book Festival.

One of the "go to" authors that I recommend to reluctant boy readers (including my own husband) is Darren Shan, and sure enough he was presenting at the festival. We scored some tickets, and had a great time, listening to him speak. He was signing books afterward, and I really wanted to get a signed copy for my classroom library, however little did I know that it would take FOUR hours of waiting in line until it was finally my turn! I must say that it did my English teacher's heart good to see all the teens in line waiting patiently to get their entire 13 book series signed by Darren too.

Standing in line ate up much of our day so we stopped by Jamie Oliver's restaraunt for an early dinner, before heading off to the room to watch the closing ceremonies for the Olympics on TV.

Tomorrow, we meet out camper van Clyde and head off to the countryside.
